Painting Stones Tulsa

Painting your stonework, when done right, is a cost-effective way to revitalize your home’s appearance. You can paint it with anything, although we would recommend using whitewash for this project. Whitewash is inexpensive, won’t chip and peel, and is superior to conventional paint. You can paint stone with any paint you want, though. While some would not recommend painting over stonework, if it’s done properly, it will look spectacular.

Stone Painting Techniques: Preparation

You will need to make preparations before you paint the stonework. Fortunately, all the tools you need to prepare the stonework should be standard household items. If the job looks like it will require additional tools, you can always rent some equipment. Once you’ve covered any areas you don’t want to paint, you’re ready to start the preparation phase.

Whitewashing has managed to survive the test of time, for both its practical application, and aesthetic value. As such, whitewashing has a rich history. From Greece, to England, all the way to the United States, people have made use of whitewash paint for many of their needs.

Wash the Stonework

The next thing you will want to do is clean the stones. You will want to work slowly, however, so you don’t damage the stonework. While stone is durable, washing it too harshly can damage it. Start cleaning the stonework with dish soap and warm water. If this is not a powerful enough cleaning agent, then feel free to use stronger ones. Alternatively, do some research on the internet to determine how much washing the type of stone in your stonework can withstand. Once you have finished washing the stones, you can begin painting.

Painting Stonework

Now that you’ve completed the preparation phase, you can begin painting. Once you are ready, use your paintbrush to apply the paint onto the stonework. Apply the paint in small sections, until you have covered the desired area. Take note, sometimes paint will look a slightly different color once it has dried. If the paint is the desired color, however, then you’re done when the paint dries. You can apply a sealer layer over the paint if you wish. Then enjoy your home’s new, beautiful painted stonework. The Benefits of Painting Stone

Painting stone can be beneficial for making your home look rejuvenated. In some respects, paint is one of the most cost-effective renovations possible. When the time comes to sell your home, a fresh coat of paint can help increase the house’s property value.

Painting will take a few hours, or sometimes days. With all of the benefits which come with it, however, it will be worth it. If you decide you don’t want to use paint, whitewash is the method to use. Whitewash is superior to conventional paint in many ways, but if you do not have the time to do a whitewashing project yourself, you can always contact a whitewashing company.
